John Cooke

Head Chef John Cooke was born and raised in the UK where he began his illustrious career working
with celebrated chefs in London. He met his Australian wife while he was sous-chef at the world-
famous Dorset Square Hotel restaurant. There he developed his technical skills and his love of
creating elegant food, using the finest ingredients.


John moved to Australia in 1993 and opened Pigalle Restaurant in Wollongong, serving delicious
modern cuisine with a nod to his fine dining days. After 5 years, John decided to close the doors and
enjoy more time with his family and spend more time enjoying the Great Outdoors! He joined
Culinarius Catering in 2008 bringing his enormous expertise, eye for detail and British wit, with him.
John is not only a fantastic chef, he’s a veritable Action Man! When he isn’t running the Culinarius
kitchen and cooking mouth-watering food, he’s tearing the bike tracks on his mountain bike, hiking
for miles, taking out the kayak or riding his motorbike.


John is a great leader to our younger generation of chefs and has become an integral part of the
Culinarius family.
